About This Position
North American Forge masters (NAF) has an immediate need for a Maintenance Manager. This full‑time, salary‑exempt position is located in New Castle, PA and will report directly to the Plant Manager. Applicants ideally will have a strong background in heavy industrial maintenance, Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or technical related field (preferred), and 5-7 years supervisory experience managing maintenance. - Manage capital and major repair budget – develop, schedule and implement the yearly capital and major repair budget. Assign, help schedule, and manage each project.
- Provide leadership and supervision to the maintenance team including training, evaluation, timesheets, approving PTO, work schedules and setting clear expectations and holding them accountable for attendance, quality, safety, and all other areas of performance.
- Support the maintenance department – help/advise team members with day‑to‑day maintenance problems. Help with planning of the maintenance schedule and projects.
- Support production – provide any needed assist to production. Review possible jobs, capacities, improvements, application of machines and advising/helping machine operators.
- Troubleshoot and repair machines (all nature of repairs, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and civil)
- Implement and lead continuous improvement efforts including but not limited to 6S, TPM and safety events.
- Perform work in accordance with NAF’s ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering/technical related field (preferred)
- 5-7 years supervisory experience managing maintenance
- Review/approve documentation, reports, and records as completed by subordinate staff
- General computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to work as a team player as well as ability to work independently
- A clean criminal background check
- A clean urine drug screen, performed upon offer of employment
- A commitment to safety
North American Forge masters (NAF) is a 50‑50 joint venture between Scot Forge and Ellwood Group, Inc. NAF was established in 1997 when an agreement between the Partner companies was made to install a 4500 ton press in New Castle, PA. At the time, both Partners identified the need for a larger open‑die forging press and the idea of a joint venture adjacent to both company's primary melt source would provide the opportunity to hot ship ingots a few hundred yards to the bigger press.
The agreement was made to operate as a cost center converting ingots supplied by each of the Partners into bloom and custom open‑die forgings according to their written instructions.
Since 1997, the two Partners have grown and prospered, in part due to the success of the NAF joint venture. Both companies have since installed larger presses – Scot Forge built a 5500 ton press in 2007 and Ellwood City Forge, a division of EGI, built a 5000 ton press in 2008. Since the 4500 ton press is no longer unique, the Partners have made a new agreement, looking to once again create opportunity for the NAF JV.
Today the partnership is as strong as ever, converting an average of more than 100,000 ingot tons per year, making NAF perhaps the most productive open‑die forger in the world. The original press was rebuilt in 2013 and the original six oxy‑fuel forge heating furnaces were replaced in 2014 with five regenerative burner furnaces providing a net heating capacity increase with lower emissions.
