Overview
Ellwood Specialty Metals Company is the leading distributor and a fully integrated producer of tool steels for plastic molds, die cast and forging dies and other tooling applications. Our steel and aluminum are used to make countless parts for automobiles, aircraft, and consumer products.
As part of our evolving needs and in response to rapid growth, we currently have an opening for a full time Manufacturing Engineer. This position will report to the General Manager.
Job SummaryUtilizing independent judgement, this position supports all existing manufacturing processes and supports engineering and safety projects within the Ellwood Specialty Metals Group.
Responsibilities- Observe all safety rules and regulations and meet all safety program requirements.
- Ability to learn and understand operations, including material management and flow, shipping and receiving, production scheduling, contractor and vendor management, and customer satisfaction.
- Support all existing manufacturing processes, including data collection and analysis for the Ellwood Specialty Metals Group.
- Support operations, maintenance, and environmental, health, quality improvement and safety projects.
- Support the evaluation, design, and implementation of project/improvement initiatives.
- Draft documentation for updated process procedures, safety material, training material, etc.
- Draft layouts of existing and potential floor spaces to optimize the manufacturing process.
- Support costs savings initiatives to reduce operating expenses.
- Be a leader in safety and develop/improve safety devices, procedures, and protocols.
- Support quality improvement projects.
- Travel as needed to support efforts within the Ellwood Specialty Metals Group and to visit customers and vendors as required (including out-of-country travel).
- Perform other duties as deemed necessary.
- Minimum of 1-3 years experience in engineering preferred.
- BS degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or equivalent is required
- Strong safety focus/values
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
- CNC machine and programming experience preferred
- Ability to read machining blueprints
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft applications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Well organized and detail oriented
- Strong leadership and team-building skills
- Solid Works experience preferred (or other similar CAD software)
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude
- Ability to work independently (self-starter)
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems
- Ability to work on a team or as an individual
- Results oriented with a strong desire to succeed
Bachelors of Manufacturing Engineering (preferred)
