CNC Machinist
This role focuses on operating industrial machining equipment to manufacture multi-ton steel rolls in a heavy industrial, production-focused environment. You will set up and run CNC milling lathes, grinding machines, and other equipment, ensure parts meet tight tolerances, and maintain high safety and quality standards while working rotating shifts with regular overtime.
Responsibilities- Operate industrial machining equipment used to manufacture multi-ton steel rolls, including CNC milling lathes, grinding machines, roughing, and plugging operations.
- Safely set up and run assigned machines, following all procedures and work instructions.
- Monitor machine operations and part quality throughout production runs, identifying issues early and taking corrective action.
- Make necessary adjustments to machines and tooling to maintain dimensional accuracy and meet tight tolerances.
- Use precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers to inspect parts and verify that dimensions meet specifications.
- Perform basic troubleshooting on machines and processes to resolve operational issues and minimize downtime.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, adhering strictly to safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and support continuous improvement efforts.
- Document production information as required, including measurements, adjustments, and any issues encountered during operation.
- Work rotating shifts and regular overtime, including Saturdays, to support production demand.
- Experience using precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
- Strong math skills related to measurements, tolerances, and basic shop calculations.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand how machines and components function.
- Troubleshooting ability to identify and resolve machine or process issues.
- Prior experience operating manufacturing or industrial machines.
- Ability to work safely in a heavy industrial environment with large machinery and multi-ton steel rolls.
- Comfort standing for long periods and performing physically demanding tasks.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain focus in a loud, production-focused setting.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience operating CNC machines or any type of lathe.
- Familiarity with Allen-Bradley controls.
- Basic understanding of G-code.
- Experience working with very tight tolerances.
- Background in general labor, production, assembly, or machine operating roles.
- Experience with CNC operation, CNC machines, lathes, grinding, and related machining processes.

Work EnvironmentThis position is based in a heavy industrial manufacturing facility that machines multi-ton steel rolls using large, powerful equipment. The environment is loud and physically demanding, requiring strict adherence to safety procedures and consistent use of required personal protective equipment (PPE). You will work around large machinery, stand for extended periods, and handle repetitive tasks in a production-focused setting. The role follows rotating weekly shifts (7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m., and 11:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.), and overtime, including Saturdays, is regularly required to meet production demand.
JobType & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Castle, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $31.00/hr.
