Position: Medical Receptionist 1

About the Role:

The Medical Receptionist 1 serves as the vital first point of contact for patients and visitors within a healthcare setting, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience. This role is responsible for managing patient check-ins, scheduling appointments, and maintaining accurate patient records, which directly supports the smooth operation of medical services. Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare environment preferred but not required.
  • Basic proficiency with computer systems and electronic health record (EHR) software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification as a Medical Receptionist or Medical Administrative Assistant.
  • Experience with specific EHR platforms such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance billing processes.
  • Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages in the community.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle high-volume phone systems and multitask effectively.
Responsibilities:
  • Greet and assist patients and visitors promptly and courteously upon arrival.
  • Manage patient appointment scheduling, cancellations, and rescheduling using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Verify patient insurance information and collect co-payments or fees as required.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate medical or administrative personnel.
  • Coordinate patient flow by notifying medical staff of patient arrivals and managing waiting room logistics.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and data entry to support clinical and office staff.
  • Handle patient check-out procedures, including scheduling follow-up appointments and providing necessary documentation.
