About Floatex Solar
Floatex Solar is India's dominant floating solar PV technology company. With over 1 GW of delivered capacity, we work with India's largest power and infrastructure groups — NTPC, L&T, Tata Power, BHEL, GAIL, DVC, and Sterling Wilson among them.
We provide the engineering backbone for India's most complex floating solar installations. Our clients are sophisticated PSU and private sector organisations that expect precise execution, accurate scheduling, and a single authoritative contact point for project delivery.
The Role
Head of Projects is a senior leadership role with full accountability for the delivery of every active Floatex project. You own the client relationship from LOA through commissioning.
You will manage a team of Project Managers, Site Incharges, and the Electrical Engineer, and you will work in close coordination with the Head of Engineering on technical deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
Client Relationship & Project Review Meetings
Represent Floatex in all project review meetings — PRMs, weekly reviews, coordination calls — with the authority to commit to schedules and corrective actions
Prepare and present project status reports, recovery plans, and commissioning schedules to client management; ensure submissions are never late
Manage client expectations proactively — flag risks to the client before they become crises; never let a missed milestone be a surprise
Execution & Commissioning Oversight
Own the project schedule for all active projects from LOA through grid commissioning; monitor progress daily against milestones
Manage Site Incharges directly; ensure on-ground issues
Coordinate across procurement, engineering, logistics, and site to identify and clear bottlenecks before they impact critical path
Drive partial and final commissioning activities; ensure CEA and statutory approvals are tracked and met on schedule
Establish and enforce a daily reporting rhythm from sites
Team Management
Directly manage Project Managers and Site Incharges; set performance expectations, review DPRs, and hold individuals accountable to commitments
Manage the Electrical Engineer on project delivery —
Identify resourcing gaps across active projects; raise hiring needs to leadership with sufficient lead time
Subcontractor & Vendor Management
Own the working relationship with key subcontractors
Ensure deliverables from subcontractors (drawings, specifications, schedules) arrive on time and to the standard required for client submission
Manage variation orders, scope changes, and contract deviations with clients and subcontractors; document and close them formally
Financial Tracking & Collections Support
Track project milestone-based billing; coordinate with accounts to ensure invoices are raised at the right time against the right milestones
Support collection from clients where outstanding payments are tied to project delivery milestones or document approvals
Flag project cost overruns or margin risks; maintain project-level P&L visibility
Requirements
Essential
12–20 years in solar or renewable energy EPC, with at least 5 years in a Project Manager or senior delivery role on large-scale (50 MW+) projects
Has personally represented an EPC company in project review meetings with PSU clients — SECI, NTPC, BHEL, DVC, GAIL, or equivalent — at director or senior engineer level, and can handle difficult rooms
Proven track record of driving projects to commissioning under schedule pressure, with documented recovery plans and milestone adherence
Experience managing multi-project portfolios simultaneously — not just one project at a time
Strong written and verbal communication in English; can draft a project status report or a schedule recovery plan without assistance
Has managed site teams directly, including Site Incharges and subcontractors, with accountability for on-ground execution
Preferred
Prior experience at Sterling Wilson, L&T Renewable, Tata Power Solar, Jakson, or Mahindra Susten — familiarity with how these organisations work as EPC clients
Exposure to SECI's project management and approval processes specifically
Experience managing electrical subcontractors and coordinating electrical design deliverables
