Qualifications:
Valid Connecticut Certification or equivalent New York certification with eligibility to obtain Connecticut certification through reciprocity. Strong knowledge of middle school English Language Arts curriculum, adolescent literacy, instructional strategies, and assessment practices. Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
Responsibilities:
- Teach middle school English Language Arts in alignment with district curriculum and Connecticut Core Standards.
- Design and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons that promote reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary development, speaking, listening, and critical thinking skills.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the academic, social, emotional, and learning needs of diverse learners.
- Foster a positive, respectful, equitable, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement, collaboration, and academic growth.
- Integrate instructional technology and research-based literacy practices to enhance student learning.
- Collaborate with colleagues, special education staff, interventionists, administrators, and families to support student success.
