Job DescriptionThe Para educator plays a vital role in supporting the educational development of students, particularly those with special needs. This position involves working closely with teachers and other educational staff to create an inclusive, supportive, and effective learning environment. Paraeducators assist in the implementation of instructional programs, behavioral supports, and accommodations to ensure that all students can access and participate fully in their educational experience.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Works with individual students or small groups in a variety of educational settings (classroom, resource room, community-based learning, etc.).
- Carries out instructional activities as designed by a certified staff member.
- Maintains and records data on student progress (separate from Article IX 9.5) as assigned.
- Assists students in following classroom and school rules, routines, and behavioral expectations.
- Monitors individual or group testing and provides appropriate accommodations as directed.
- Supports implementation of accommodations and modifications as described in students’ IEPs and 504 Plans.
- Assists the teacher in the development and implementation of instructional and behavioral strategies for the classroom
- Supervises testing, makeup work, or independent study as assigned by the teacher.
- Scores tests and corrects papers using established answer keys.
- Assists with the use of instructional media, technology, equipment, and materials.
- Prepares instructional materials and supports the organization of classroom supplies.
- Helps ensure students’ personal safety and well-being at all times.
- Serves as a source of information and assistance for substitute staff in the absence of the regular teacher.
- Assists in the general supervision of students throughout the school environment, including classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, van, after and before school programs, buses, and other assigned areas.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of all student information in compliance with district policy and FERPA regulations.
- Participates in assigned staff development programs to enhance skills and professional growth.
- Demonstrates cultural competence, professionalism, and adherence to district policies and ethical standards.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervising teacher, building administrator, or Pupil Services Department.

Salary: $19.67 to $19.67 Per Hour
