Elm Grove Companies, a well-established real estate development and property management firm, is hiring a Staff Accountant to join our team in Hooksett, NH.
Position Summary
We are seeking a versatile Staff Accountant — a utility knife of accounting and finance — to support our team across a broad range of functions. This high‑exposure role is an excellent fit for someone looking to broaden their experience across real estate investing, development, and property management accounting while reporting to a Senior Accountant.
- Support the month‑end close process across multiple entities.
- Prepare and post journal entries and maintain supporting schedules.
- Perform general ledger account reconciliations; research and resolve discrepancies.
- Fixed asset and depreciation bookings.
- Prepare audit work papers and PBC schedules; respond to auditor requests.
- Support tax return preparation and work papers for multi‑faced entity structures.
- Assist with compliance reporting and related documentation.
- Support cash management, bank reconciliations, and treasury reporting.
- Assist with funding, draw tracking, and cash positioning across entities.
- Support deal‑flow and project‑level accounting across development and investment activity.
- Assist with entity setup, capital tracking, and project cost recording.
- Prepare financial reports and variance analysis at the property and entity level.
- Contribute to ad‑hoc financial analysis in support of the team and leadership.
- Provide AP/AR support across the team and ensure timely, accurate transaction processing and workflow review.
- Work within Yardi to maintain data accuracy, including support of the ongoing system migration.
- Support process documentation and standardization across the function.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent relevant experience.
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong fundamentals in general ledger, reconciliations, and month‑end close.
- Solid working knowledge of GAAP.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Yardi (Voyager) experience strongly preferred; comparable property management or ERP systems (e.g., App Folio, Sage Intacct) a plus.
- Real estate investing, development, or property management accounting experience.
- Exposure to affordable housing / LIHTC.
- Public accounting, audit, and/or tax experience.
- An adaptable generalist energized by variety and moving across functions.
- A self‑starter who can take direction and then run with it independently.
- A strong problem‑solver with sound judgment and a high standard for accuracy.
- A collaborative team player who supports colleagues across the department.
- Comfortable in a growing, multi‑entity environment with evolving processes.
