This role offers flexible work arrangements and may be performed onsite, in a hybrid setup, or fully remote for candidates located in states where the company is authorized to employ. The role requires approximately monthly day travel to our Charlestown, NH facility, and candidates within reasonable driving distance are preferred.
As the Accounting Manager at Green Source Fabrication, you are responsible for leading the accounting function and ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting. This role oversees the accounting close, general ledger, inventory and cost accounting, internal controls, and financial reporting while providing leadership and development to the accounting team.
The Accounting Manager strengthens accounting processes, controls, and systems to support a growing manufacturing organization, including applicable government contracting requirements. This role leads accounting systems and continuous improvement initiatives and partners with leaders across the organization to understand financial performance, resolve accounting matters, and support informed business decisions.
Job DetailsDuties & Responsibilities:
- Lead the monthly and year-end close and financial reporting processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company requirements.
- Oversee general accounting activities, including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, intercompany accounting, and international subsidiary reporting.
- Oversee inventory and cost accounting, including costing methodologies, inventory valuation, reserves, reconciliations, and manufacturing variance analysis.
- Ensure accounting practices, cost classifications, and direct and indirect cost allocation methodologies appropriately address applicable government contracting requirements, including FAR and CAS.
- Lead accounting system and process improvements to strengthen financial controls, reporting accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
- Develop and maintain effective accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and financial processes to ensure accurate financial reporting, safeguard company assets, and support regulatory compliance.
- Lead external audit preparation and coordination and ensure timely completion of applicable banking covenant compliance reporting.
- Analyze financial results and partner with functional leaders to explain trends and variances, strengthen financial understanding, and provide insights that support business decisions.
- Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team, establishing clear expectations and driving accountability, cross-training, and employee development.
- Model and reinforce company values and policies, promoting accountability, collaboration, clear communication, and operational excellence across the accounting team.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and internal controls.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing accounting, including cost accounting, inventory valuation, and manufacturing variances.
- Knowledge of government contract accounting requirements, including FAR, CAS, and direct and indirect cost allocation methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to lead accounting operations, financial close processes, and accounting professionals.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial information and translate findings into action.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to understand manufacturing operations and their financial implications.
- Demonstrated ability to improve accounting processes, controls, and systems and lead ERP or other financial system initiatives.
- Clear and effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate with financial and non-financial stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong organizational skills, sound judgment, integrity, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Education & Experience:
- Associate’s
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA or CMA preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant experience within or supporting a manufacturing environment.
- Prior experience leading, supervising, or developing accounting professionals.
