Communications & Program Assistant

The Abbott Library in scenic Sunapee (New Hampshire) is looking for an experienced and creative individual to be our Communications & Program Assistant. This is a full-time role that reports to the Library Director, with a generous benefits package.

This position provides support for each of several core library functions: marketing/promotions and social media; youth programming; and adult programming. The job duties include working closely with our Assistant Director and Youth Services Librarian to promote collections and programs, as well as the full range of circulation tasks (which we all share), opening and closing, evenings, and a rotating schedule of Saturdays.

We are a small and innovative team in an active library. We are fortunate to have a very supportive Board, and we are committed to fostering professional development opportunities.

Our library serves a community of approximately 3,400 year-round residents and a large seasonal population. This summer, we enjoyed seeing 7,100 visitors in June & July combined, and we signed up nearly 50 cardholders in that time. Our collection is diverse and up-to-date, and we have a packed event calendar with fantastic programs for all ages.

We have a welcoming environment in a building that is a mere 12 years old. Our patrons are generous and incredibly friendly; they enjoy our beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces. Abbott Library is also supported by the Friends of the Abbott Library and the Abbott Library Foundation. These two organizations are integral to our success.

The starting hourly rate range for this position is $23.66 to $36.00. The rate will depend on the successful applicant’s background, education, and experience.
