Overview

As a Senior Manager, Store Design on the VF Store Construction team, you will lead the execution and continued development of immersive retail experiences that bring our brand ethos to life in physical space. Your primary focus is executing the Global creative vision, spatial narratives, and design principles that guide world‑class consumer experiences across owned and partner retail environments. You will translate Timberland’s innovative spirit, outdoor heritage, and exploration mindset into scalable design solutions, partnering closely with internal stakeholders and external collaborators and reporting to the Director of VF Retail Construction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive design development of retail concept direction and execution strategies to connect with consumers in a consistent brand voice and tone.
  • Refine, iterate upon, and deliver best‑in‑class architectural interventions at retail sites, celebrating the brand’s DNA, heritage, and authentic connection to exploration.
  • Collaborate constructively and cross‑functionally to align retail concepts with brand, product, merchandising, and marketing priorities.
  • Champion a consistent, elevated brand voice in physical spaces, ensuring clarity, cohesion, and emotional resonance across touchpoints.
  • Conceptualize, draft, model, and detail overall space and furniture plans, reflected ceiling plans, interior elevations, fixturing, and environmental graphics.
  • Advocate for sustainability‑driven thinking within early concept development, aligning with VF Green Building and sustainability principles.
  • Prepare design presentations, regional retail guidelines, and other deliverables to enable leadership approval and project partner success.
  • Manage projects in collaboration with internal team members and agency partners, acting as liaison between the TNF Brand Creative design studio, vendors, and subcontractors, including site visits to oversee fabrication and installation.
  • Be a true product expert, focused on holistic, product‑driven narratives that showcase our innovative heritage and elevate the in‑person retail experience for explorers.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 7+ years of technically‑progressive professional experience designing retail spaces, with a focus on storytelling and brand identity.
  • An exceptional portfolio that demonstrates big‑idea thinking, conceptual rigor, and built outcomes across architecture, interiors, and experiential work.
  • Proficiency in 2D & 3D concept visualization from hand sketching to polished presentation renderings.
  • Positive, collaborative, and idea‑driven mindset; ability to partner across disciplines such as visual merchandising, product, lighting, graphics, and fabrication.
  • Technical skills:
    Rhino, Enscape, Vray, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch Up, Keynote, and optional Grasshopper, Unreal, AR/VR/XR experience.
  • Demonstrated success in establishing best‑in‑class retail consumer experiences, global retail concept rollouts, fixture program prototyping, and value engineering.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and mastery of organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Strong written, verbal, and editing communication abilities.
  • Genuine interest in footwear, apparel, and performance products and how they translate into physical retail expressions.
  • Deep understanding and passion for contemporary art, culture, design, and outdoor experience (preferred).
Compensation & Benefits

Hiring Range: $ – $ USD annually.

Incentive Potential: Eligible for annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential, details to be provided during the recruiting and interview process.
