ARM Consultants LLC is seeking an experienced Project Architect to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have strong architectural design and project management experience and an interest in working within the specialized field of roofing and building-envelope consulting.
The Project Architect will be responsible for managing projects from initial investigation and design through construction administration, while also providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff. This position offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of existing buildings and challenging roof projects while developing long-term relationships with clients.
Responsibilities- Manage projects from initial investigation and project development through construction administration and closeout.
- Develop complete construction document packages, including drawings, details, specifications, and related project documentation.
- Develop practical and cost-effective roof repair, replacement, restoration, and rehabilitation designs.
- Balance and manage multiple projects simultaneously across various phases of design and construction.
- Conduct and/or participate in roof and building-envelope inspections and existing-condition investigations.
- Communicate directly with clients throughout the project lifecycle, from initial consultation through construction completion.
- Assist with client roof asset management programs and long-term capital planning.
- Review and provide peer review of architectural, roofing, and building-envelope drawings and specifications.
- Provide construction administration and limited construction oversight services, including site observations, contractor coordination, and review of submittals and project documentation.
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors, manufacturers, and other project stakeholders.
- Assist in developing scopes of work, budgets, schedules, and project recommendations.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior designers and consultants.
- Identify opportunities to improve project quality, efficiency, and client service.
- Travel periodically throughout New England for project site visits and client meetings.
- Must be local to New England.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture.
- Architectural registration preferred, but not required. ARM can provide support and guidance toward completing IDP and pursuing registration.
- 6-12+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
- Experience developing construction documents, specifications, and architectural details.
- Experience with existing buildings, renovations, adaptive reuse, historic preservation, multifamily, or institutional projects preferred.
- Experience with K-12 schools, colleges and universities, government facilities, or other public-sector projects preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a distributed team.
- Interest in roofing, building-envelope systems, and existing-building consulting.
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout New England for inspections, meetings, and construction-related activities.
- A valid driver's license is required.
