Overview
Educational Assistants fulfill a variety of regular and special education duties, and the duties assigned to any aide may vary or be amended from time to time without changing the level of responsibility associated with the job. Generally, aides are assigned to classroom situations in which the class size may suggest the need for instructional assistance or in which individual students, particularly special education students, may need assistance and direction.
In all situations, aides remain responsible to the classroom teachers as they assist with instruction, management, and the implementation of accommodations as directed.
Assist children in any school settings, based on the academic, social and/or behavioral needs outlined in Independent Education Plans. Provide support based on guidelines and procedures established by the special education team, complete a daily duty (such as recess or lunchroom supervision) and be flexible and open to any other expectations deemed necessary by administration to meet the needs of students, either individually or as part of small groups in all classroom settings.
