Overview
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central and Northern New Hampshire is a dynamic organization that currently supports 200 staff working in 30 Early Childhood and Out of School Time programs with a large geographic footprint. This is a full-time, non-exempt position.
Responsibilities Prepares Youth for Success- Plans and oversees the administration of designated programs and activities that support Youth Development Outcomes.
- Establishes program objectives consistent with organizational goals and mission.
- Oversees the provision of day-to-day program activities in accordance with established Boys and Girls Club standards and goals.
- Ensures that all childcare licensing requirements per the NH Childcare Licensing Bureau are implemented.
- Encourages member participation in a variety of program areas/activities and provides instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in program areas.
- Demonstrates leadership to ensure proper conduct, safety, and development of members.
- Establishes and maintains program goals and settings to ensure the health and safety of members. Ensures staff understands and communicates program standards, maintains safe, well-ventilated, and well-lit spaces, and keeps Club equipment in good condition.
- Evaluates Club programs continually, tracks outcome metrics, and ensures programs address member needs, including gender and cultural diversity.
- Controls program expenditures within the approved budget.
- Allocates and monitors work for program volunteers and staff, providing ongoing feedback and regular appraisal. Supports training and development opportunities for volunteers and staff.
- Maintains proper record keeping and weekly reporting of activities, attendance, achievements, and issues.
- Ensures productive and effective performance by all program staff and volunteers.
- Oversees special programs/events (e.g., Keystone, Youth of the Year, Awards Programs) and assists with other program activities as needed.
- Increases visibility of Club programs through daily schedules and announcements via social media, parent emails, etc.
A program director in a school-age program shall be at least 20 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent, including GED/HiSET/TASC, and one of the following:
- Written documentation that the candidate was qualified and employed as a site director in a school-age program on or before 2022;
- An associate’s degree in child development, education, recreation, or related field from an accredited college or university;
- Certification of successful completion of training as a recreation director plus 1000 hours of experience with children in a licensed setting;
- 12 college credits in child development, education, recreation, or related field plus 1000 hours of experience with children;
- Current certification as an educator by the Department of Education;
- Experience working with children totaling 2000 hours and current certification as a para II educator by the Department of Education; or
- Documentation of enrollment in a course for at least 3 credits in related fields with a plan for completion of at least 3 additional credits, and within 12 months of starting as site director, documentation of completing at least 6 credits as specified.
ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS:
- All candidates offered a job will submit to FBI fingerprint background checks and state background checks. The State of NH Childcare Licensing Bureau may prohibit employment for disqualifying findings. The organization reserves the right to determine employment status.
