OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIESThe Nashua Technology Center (NTC) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Emergency Services Teacher to develop and deliver an engaging Career and Technical Education (CTE) program focused on preparing high school students for careers in fire service, emergency medical services (EMS), and law enforcement. This position emphasizes hands‑on, scenario-based learning, industry‑aligned skills, and career readiness while fostering professionalism, safety, and community responsibility.
The Emergency Services Teacher will implement a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary curriculum that blends classroom instruction, practical skills training, physical readiness, and emerging technologies to expose students to real-world emergency services pathways.
QUALIFICATIONS- Background in emergency services or a closely related field required.
- Must be eligible for New Hampshire Department of Education CTE teacher certification or equivalent.
- Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to meet physical demands related to demonstrations, simulations, and fitness activities.
- Experience with curriculum development and competency-based education preferred.
- Deliver engaging instruction aligned to the Emergency Services curriculum, including:
- Introduction to Emergency Services (Fire, EMS, Law Enforcement)
- Emergency Medical Response and First Aid
- Health, Safety, Physical Fitness, and Mental Wellness
- Law Enforcement Fundamentals
- Fire Science and Safety
- Drones, Robotics, and Technology in Emergency Services
- Provide hands‑on, scenario-based instruction and simulations that reflect real-world emergency response environments.
- Teach and reinforce safety practices, proper use of PPE, and situational awareness at all times.
- Support students in earning industry‑recognized certifications (e.g., CPR/AED, First Aid, FEMA ICS‑100, NIMS concepts).
- Incorporate physical conditioning, functional fitness, and wellness strategies appropriate for emergency services careers.
- Assess student learning through performance-based assessments, simulations, written work, and reflective activities.
- Maintain a structured, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
- Collaborate with local fire departments, EMS agencies, law enforcement, and community partners to enhance instruction and career exposure.
- Participate in curriculum development, program evaluation, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Maintain accurate records, lesson plans, and documentation in alignment with district and state CTE requirements.
- Serve as a positive role model demonstrating professionalism, ethics, teamwork, and leadership.
- Prior professional experience in Fire Service, EMS, Law Enforcement, Emergency Management, or related emergency services field.
- Experience working with high school students or in a training/mentorship role.
- Strong classroom management and instructional skills.
- Ability to teach both theoretical concepts and hands‑on practical skills.
- Commitment to student safety, equity, and career readiness.
