Windham Middle School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Social Studies teacher to join our Social Studies department for the 26/27 school year. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong content knowledge in American history, effective instructional practices grounded in inquiry-based learning, and a commitment to engaging students in meaningful, student-centered historical thinking.
The successful educator will design and deliver instruction that:
- Aligns with the C3 Framework for Social Studies State Standards, including the C3 Inquiry Arc
- Engages students in historical inquiry, analysis of primary and secondary sources, and evidence-based reasoning.
- Supports students in developing disciplinary literacy skills, including sourcing, contextualization, corroboration, and argument writing.
- Incorporates Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Uses technology effectively to enhance instruction and student engagement.
Collaboration with colleagues through Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) is an essential part of this role to ensure students experience cohesive and connected language learning opportunities. Above all, the teacher will foster a positive and respectful classroom environment, demonstrating professionalism, cultural awareness, and a commitment to helping students grow as confident communicators.
Qualifications- NH Certification (or eligibility for certification) in Elementary Education (K-8) or Social Studies as required by the New Hampshire Department of Education.
- Familiarity with and experience implementing the C3 Framework, inquiry-based instruction, and/or the C3 Inquiry Arc.
- Strong content knowledge in World History and/or American History.
- Experience working with middle school students preferred.
