Driving Instructor

Founded in 1971 and based in Concord, New Hampshire, Second Start is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to improving the economic and educational well-being of New Hampshire residents. The organization provides a wide range of affordable and impactful programs, including adult basic education, career counseling, job training, HiSET testing and preparation, the Adult Diploma Program, and services for at-risk youth. Second Start also operates the New American Driving School, offering supportive driving education tailored to meet the community's diverse needs.

Through its programs, Second Start empowers individuals to become productive workers, engaged family members, and active members of their communities.

This is a part-time on-site role for a Driving Instructor at Second Start, located in Concord, NH. The Driving Instructor will be responsible for educating students on safe and effective driving practices, providing both classroom instruction and practical behind-the-wheel training. Responsibilities include creating lesson plans, evaluating student progress, maintaining accurate records, adhering to road safety regulations, and fostering a supportive and encouraging learning environment.

• Strong instructional skills, including experience in teaching driving techniques and ensuring student understanding
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively connect with and teach diverse groups of students
• Knowledge of road safety laws, driving best practices, and vehicle operation
• Strong organizational and record-keeping skills to manage lesson plans and student progress efficiently
• A valid driver's license with a clean driving record and a Driving Instructor certification
• Patient and encouraging demeanor; ability to remain calm and composed under pressure
• Experience working with individuals from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds is a plus
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications are advantageous
• Driving instructor/trainee experience required
• 1-3 years Prior Teaching Experience preferred
• Valid driver’s license Required
• Ability to meet other pre-employment guidelines Required
