DutiesPrepare Youth for Success
- Respond sensitively to the interests, requests, and needs of individual children; interact positively, encourage exploration, and use positive child guidance strategies.
- Provide guidance and role modeling by planning and outlining curriculum to meet individual needs and incorporate emergent curriculum elements.
- Establish and maintain program goals to ensure the health and safety of all members.
- Ensure continual program evaluation, including tracking outcome metrics and verifying that programs respond to member needs and address diversity.
- Use child observation notes for curriculum planning and keep accurate, up‑to‑date records.
- Continuously account for members in the assigned group by name and face.
- Oversee implementation of NAEYC standards, GSQ (when applicable), Culture DNA code, BGCCNNH and CCLU rules and policies regarding safety, compliance, and best practices.
- Dispense medications according to policy, administer first aid as needed and communicate occurrences to families.
- Oversee and assist with cleaning, organizing, and maintaining classroom well‑being and upkeep.
Program Development, Implementation, and Supervision
- Oversee proper record‑keeping and weekly reporting of activities and events; provide data for the Center Director or other staff.
- Facilitate open and effective communication with families, staff, and children.
- Supervise classroom staff, students, and volunteers; give regular feedback on performance.
- Support volunteers, practicum students, and staff by modeling techniques that connect theory to practice.
- May lead planning meetings with the teaching team.
- May increase the visibility of club programs via daily schedule postings, announcements through social media, family emails, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Lead teacher qualified (18 credits) with two years of experience in Early Childhood Education or a similar field; 18+ years old; minimum 1,000 hours in a licensed program.
- Knowledge of current teaching methods, principles, and techniques.
- Knowledge of curriculum development and application.
- Ability to plan and implement quality programs; proven creative and artistic teaching strategies.
- Ability to form developmentally appropriate relationships with children and promote positive behavior.
- Ability to motivate members and manage behavior problems patiently.
- Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
- Ability to communicate with staff, families, and community members by various methods.
- Willingness to maintain an appropriate appearance for duties.
- Willingness to adapt to different learning styles.
- Must obtain CPR and First Aid certifications per licensing requirements.
- May require driving the club van/short bus periodically; must have a safe driving record and submit a copy of the record to the Operations Director or HR.
- Assist with cleaning and organizing the club.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Willingness to travel between locations when requested (occasional).
