Northeast Woodland School is seeking a warm, nurturing, and relationship-centered Kindergarten Teacher to join our faculty. This full-time position serves some of our youngest students in a Waldorf-inspired program that emphasizes play, rhythm, nature, and experiential learning within a strong school-family partnership.
About the Role The Early Childhood / Kindergarten Teacher will:- Create a warm, home-like classroom environment rooted in Waldorf early childhood principles
- Foster learning through imaginative free play and meaningful real-life activities
- Lead daily storytelling and seasonal circle activities incorporating song, verse, movement, and fine/gross motor development
- Model practical life work, such as cooking, cleaning, mending, gardening, and caring for indoor and outdoor spaces
- Support children’s social development and guide healthy peer relationships
- Scaffold activities to meet diverse developmental needs
- Establish a positive, relationship-based classroom environment with clear behavioral expectations
- Observe and support students’ social, emotional, physical, and academic development
- Prepare engaging, developmentally appropriate materials and learning experiences
- Maintain accurate student records and documentation
- Communicate regularly with families, including monthly newsletters and timely updates regarding student needs or incidents
- Collaborate with colleagues to coordinate curriculum and support student growth
- Supervise students indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
- Supervise and mentor assistant teachers and volunteers
- Attend staff meetings, professional development, and Waldorf training (if not yet credentialed)
- Manage classroom materials, organization, and budget responsibilities
- Experience working with young children
- Waldorf Early Childhood Training (or willingness to pursue within two years) and NH Teacher Certification (or willingness to pursue within five years)
- Strong understanding of child development and relationship-based classroom management
- Ability to guide imaginative play and support peer relationships
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Proficiency (or willingness to learn) in Google Suite, Parent Square, Canva, and ALMA
- Ability to work outdoors and remain active for extended periods in varied weather conditions
- Creates a calm, rhythmic, and nurturing classroom environment
- Values play as the foundation of early learning
- Builds strong, healthy relationships with students and families
- Approaches behavior with proactive, developmentally appropriate strategies
- Is reflective, collaborative, and committed to professional growth
