Elementary/Middle School Principal - Auburn Village School

Auburn Village School, located in the close-knit community of Auburn, New Hampshire, is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Elementary/Middle School Principal. Serving students in grades K-8, Auburn Village School values strong relationships, academic growth, and a supportive school culture. Auburn is located just twelve miles east of Manchester, NH, and is home to approximately 6,000 residents. Auburn Village School has an enrollment of approximately 695 students in grade K-8.

The successful candidate will be an instructional leader who fosters collaboration among staff, engages families and the community, and is committed to meeting the social, emotional, and academic needs of all students.

  • Work Year: 12-month, 260-day contract

Qualifications
  • Education:

    M. Ed. in Administration and Supervision or related field
  • Certification: NH Department of Education Principal Certification
  • Experience:

    Minimum of five years teaching experience at the appropriate level and two years experience as an administrator
  • Criminal require check:
    Required per NH RSA 189:13-a
  • Pre-Employment Medical Exam:
    Required per NH RSA 200:36 and 275:3
Primary Responsibilities School Leadership & Instructional Oversight
  • Supervise the school, staff, and overall instructional program.
  • Implement School Board policies and administrative regulations.
  • Evaluate the performance and effectiveness of instructional and co‑curricular programs.
  • Coordinate student assessment and analyze results to evaluate curriculum, programs, and student performance.
  • Interact with students in a constructive manner to support high levels of individual achievement.
Personnel Supervision & Professional Development
  • Directly supervise and evaluate all personnel, excluding the Director of Student Services.
  • Ensure that subordinate administrators appropriately supervise and evaluate staff reporting to them.
  • Assign staff to positions and students to classes.
  • Orient new staff members.
  • Coordinate in‑service training for staff.
  • Maintain professional development activities for continuous improvement of leadership skills and knowledge.
Student Services, Climate & Co‑Curricular Programs
  • Establish and implement standards for student discipline.
  • Coordinate and ensure the effective implementation of co‑curricular activity programs.
  • Supervise student registration and placement, including entering primary students.
Communication, Collaboration & Community Relations
  • Maintain positive relationships with parents, parent organizations, school volunteers, and outside agencies.
  • Keep SAU administration informed of student activities, concerns, and school‑related matters.
  • Work collaboratively with SAU administration to support effective school operations.
  • Participate in district‑wide activities, committees, and in‑service programs as appropriate.
Fiscal Management & Resource Allocation
  • Prepare the school budget in collaboration with SAU administration.
  • Work with the Business Administrator on budgeting, purchasing, and fiscal oversight.
  • Supervise the use of local funds generated by student, parent, or service group activities.
  • Establish priorities for educational materials based on student and staff needs and available funding.
Facilities, Operations & Safety
  • Coordinate use‑of‑facilities policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with SAU administration to maintain school buildings and grounds.
  • Plan and coordinate emergency procedures to ensure student and staff safety.
Other Duties
  • Perform other duties and assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor(s).
