The Milton School District seeks an experienced and forward-thinking educational leader to serve as its next Superintendent of Schools.
Located in southern New Hampshire, Milton is a close-knit community that values public education and has demonstrated consistent support for its schools. Serving approximately 525 students across Milton Elementary School and Nute Middle High School, the district has made significant academic and organizational progress in recent years and is poised for its next phase of growth.

Position Overview
The Superintendent serves as the chief executive officer of the district and reports directly to the Milton School Board.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Vision
- Provide strategic leadership aligned with district goals and community values
- Foster a culture of high expectations, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Champion student-centered decision‑making
Instruction & Programs
- Ensure curriculum alignment with NH ED 306 standards
- Support instructional excellence and equitable learning opportunities
- Oversee special education, student services, and technology integration
- Promote effective educator evaluation and professional growth systems
Finance & Operations
- Develop and manage the annual district budget
- Ensure sound fiscal stewardship and long‑term planning
- Oversee facilities, transportation, food services, and capital improvement planning
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal requirements
Human Capital
- Recruit, support, and evaluate district leaders and staff
- Strengthen leadership capacity across the organization
- Promote staff retention, professional development, and wellness
Governance & Community Relations
- Serve as the liaison between the School Board and district
- Maintain transparent, consistent communication with families and stakeholders
- Represent the district with integrity and professionalism
Qualifications
- Valid New Hampshire Superintendent Certification (or eligibility)
- Master's degree required;
Doctorate preferred - Demonstrated success in district or school leadership
- Strong knowledge of school finance, curriculum, operations, and law
- Evidence of collaborative leadership and effective communication
Terms of Employment
- Salary and benefits commensurate with experience and qualifications
- Evaluation conducted annually by the Milton School Board
