Position Title:
Classroom School Teacher
Reports To:
Building Principal
- Bachelor’s degree in a related subject from an accredited institution or related field teacher
- Certified or certifiable by the NH Department of Education
- Experience is preferred but not necessary for hiring
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Must have the ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis
- Perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program
- Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology; basic Google Workspace, email, and Internet for education resources
- Meet professional teacher education requirements of school districts and states
- Ability to communicate with students and adults frequently
- Lift to 20–30 lbs. regularly
- Walk regularly
- Sit frequently
- Stand regularly
- Occasional travel with students on field trips may be necessary
- Occasional movement of students by wheelchairs and other mechanical devices may be requested
- Other physical activities may be required
- Developing and implementing plans for the age‑appropriate curriculum with written evidence of preparation required
- Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter; integrate tech into lessons
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student
- Use a variety of instruction strategies, such as inquiry, group discussion, lecture, discovery, etc.
- Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize the available time for instruction
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom
- Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports
- Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students’ progress and interpret the school program
- Identify student needs, communicate and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems
- Create an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers
- Maintain professional competence through in‑service education activities provided by professional growth activities
- Participate in cooperation with appropriate administrators to develop the method by which the teacher will be evaluated in conformance with guidelines
- Select and requisition books and instructional aids; maintain required inventory records
- Supervise students in out‑of‑classroom activities during the school day
- Administer group standardized tests in accordance with the state testing program
- Participate in curriculum development programs as required
- Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities
- Plan and use appropriate instructional/learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect accommodation for individual needs of students assigned
- Assess student learning styles and use results for instructional activities
- Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students
- Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to state requirements
- Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and/or volunteer(s)
- Use technologies in the teaching/learning process
- Assist students in analyzing and improving methods and transferable skills based on competencies
- Consistently assess student achievement through formative and summative assessments
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities assigned and may sponsor outside activities approved by the school
- Present a positive role model for students that supports the mission of the school
- Keep informed of and comply with state, city, and school regulations and policies for classroom health and safety
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required
