Position Summary
We are seeking a full‑time, one‑year contract Visiting Assistant Professor to teach and support the Sports & Recreation Management program. Candidates will demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching, community service, and academic contributions, enriching the program and preparing students for careers. Non‑teaching duties include curriculum development, academic advising, office hours, and assisting students with course registration. The position may be renewed for a second year upon mutual agreement.
Key Responsibilities- Teach selected in‑person undergraduate courses such as Principles of Sports and Rec Management, Programming of Sports and Rec Management, Sports and Recreation Marketing, Inclusive Sports and Recreation, Sports and Rec Facilities Management, Fitness Management, and Trends and Issues in Sports and Recreation.
- Provide high‑quality academic advising and mentoring to students.
- Engage in ongoing program assessment.
- Supervise internships and independent studies, when appropriate.
- Contribute to cross‑disciplinary efforts and promote innovative teaching methods.
- Make recommendations for curriculum enhancements.
- Maintain a continuous program of applied research, consulting initiatives, and professional development.
- Participate in service activities within the department, university, and the sports management profession.
- Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a related field focused on Sports Management from an accredited institution is required; a doctoral degree or ABD preferred.
- Teaching experience in sports management, sports marketing, data analytics or general management/operations; practitioner work experience highly desirable.
- Demonstrated commitment to high‑quality, student‑centered teaching across multiple modalities.
- Active engagement in professional activities, applied research, and service.
- Passion for student‑centered advising and mentoring to support student success.
- Commitment to diversity and inclusion, collaboration across disciplines, and service to diverse student populations.
