• Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on the understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
• Help students with equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher.
• Assist with the supervision of students in and out of the classroom.
• Alert the respective classroom teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student.
• Maintain regular communication with teacher(s).
• Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students.
• Participate in in-service training programs, as required/requested.
• Provide instruction to small groups or individual students.
• Become familiar with the required modifications and goals written into the IEPs/504’s, if applicable.
• Provide academic support for all students or with the focus on special education and/or 504 students as assigned.
• Guided by the respective teacher and/or the IEP/504, provide appropriate accommodations to materials.
• Assist in the administration of assessments, including accommodations.
• Collect anecdotal student information on a regular basis.
• Act as a nurturing and encouraging influence for students.
• Perform other duties that are characteristic of the responsibilities of paraprofessionals, as delegated by the building administrator or teacher.
