Educational Assistant - Special Education

Qualifications- High school graduate
- Preferably college experience
- Experience working with children
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds
Reports To:
Teacher(s) assigned
Confers With:
Teacher(s), Specialists, and Building Administrator
To implement instructional activities and programs as directed.
Performance Responsibilities- Work with students individually, in small groups, or in large groups as necessary and as prescribed by the immediate supervisor.
- Classroom and Support Assistants:
Usually work with students in the general school population. - Special Education Assistants:
Usually work with students with identified special needs, or who require additional educational assistance as defined in an individual education plan (IEP). - Demonstrate a continuous sensitivity to the needs of children to whom they are assigned.
- Carry out instructional or developmental activities suggested by the teacher, specialist, or others designated by the building administrator.
- Maintain competency and skills through a variety of available offerings.
- Educational Assistants may be responsible for personal care needs of student(s).
- Educational Assistants may be expected to obtain and maintain CPI (Non Violent Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
To be established by the school board by August 10th.
Salary$19.56 per hour plus $1.00 for certification from the NH Department of Education as a para educator II or as a teacher. If certified as a Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT), receive an additional $3.00 per hour differential.
Hours and Schedule- Hours per day: 6.5
- School year: 183 days per year
Performance evaluated no less than annually by the building administrator and immediate supervisor(s).
