Qualifications
  • Meets all qualifications and behavior standards as set by the State of New Hampshire
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Professional verification of successful classroom teacher performance and/or student teaching experience
  • Ability to work collaboratively to achieve the overall purposes of the school program

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Agreement between the FMRSD and the Fall Mountain Teachers Association, Inc.

Job Goal

To provide opportunities for students to fulfill their potential for academic, artistic, athletic and social growth.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Support the regular educator by modifying curriculum for students eligible for special education.
  • Work to ensure the rights of students with disabilities to be full participants in the general curriculum.
  • Implement state and federal laws and regulations as they apply to special education.
  • Participate in the development of and oversee implementation of IEPs for students eligible for special education.
  • Incorporate the New Hampshire Frameworks and Grade Level Expectations into student's IEP
  • Clearly communicate the learning objective and the importance of the learning to all students
  • Utilizes research based teaching strategies and programs
  • Supervise and support paraprofessionals as they implement instruction.
  • Provide direct instruction to 1 to 1 paraprofessionals
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
  • Translate lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a supportive learning environment in the classroom
  • Evaluate and maintain data on students' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports
  • Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss student's progress and interpret the school program
  • Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problem
  • Provide case management of IEP students
  • Responsible for contact with parents and quarterly progress reports
  • Consult with classroom teachers on a regular basis
  • Work to improve student performance and support the district goal of improving standardized testing results by 5-7 percentage points each year
  • Integrate the use of technology into the curriculum for all students
