World Language Teacher Spanish (Grades 6-8)
Position Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to develop students’ knowledge, skills and abilities in comprehending, speaking, reading and writing Spanish, and to foster an understanding and appreciation of Spanish‑speaking cultures.
Essential Functions- Develops and administers World Language education curriculum consistent with district goals and objectives.
- Promotes a safe classroom environment conducive to individualized and small‑group instruction.
- Creates lesson plans and instructional materials that translate into engaging learning experiences.
- Teaches core language components including comprehension, grammar, syntax, composition, vocabulary, colloquialisms, and literature translation.
- Develops student understanding and appreciation of Spanish‑speaking cultures.
- Works with students and colleagues to prepare materials for literary publications and contests.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and adjusts instruction for individual needs, including students with special needs.
- Continuously acquires professional knowledge through seminars, workshops, or research.
- Maintains accurate record‑keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievements, and attendance.
- Encourages parental involvement and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
- Enforces conduct standards consistent with school policies to maintain a functional learning environment.
- Coordinates with grade‑level staff and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
- Selects, requisitions, and maintains inventory of instructional aids and supplies.
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and central office administrators.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and differentiated instruction.
- In‑depth knowledge of Spanish grammar, usage, and literature.
- Proficiency in data systems and analysis for planning instructional decisions.
- Familiarity with applicable federal and state education laws.
- Ability to use computer network systems and software applications.
- Organizational and coordination skills.
- Effective communication with students and parents.
- Self‑evaluation for professional growth.
- Ability to establish cooperative working relationships.
Works in standard office and school building environments.
Qualifications Profile- New Hampshire State Certification as a World Language teacher in Spanish.
- Motor Vehicle Operator’s License or ability to provide own transportation.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in an education discipline applicable to the teaching assignment.
- Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
Prior world language teaching experience a plus. Dual certification preferred.
