Amherst Middle School seeks a 5th grade STEM (Science/Math) teacher to join the learning community. This position is responsible for designing and implementing a rich curriculum, dynamic student‑centered instruction, and performance‑based assessment in grade 5 or 6. The teacher will demonstrate knowledge of content area standards, work‑study practices, and a commitment to bringing learning to life for students of all ability levels.
Strong collaboration and communication skills, as well as a commitment to personal growth, are required.
- Successful experience and/or training in the field or level within the last five years.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred.
- New Hampshire Teacher Certification with endorsements:
Elementary Education (1810, 1811) or equivalent, or 5‑8 Science (1305) and Middle Level Math (1102). - Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
- Demonstrated commitment to “Engage, Support and Challenge All Learners.”
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues to support a positive school climate.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
- Experience with standards‑based grading and competency education.
- Proficiency in creating and implementing performance‑based assessment in the classroom.
- Demonstrated strategies for differentiation at all levels to support a Multi‑Tiered System of Supports model.
- Demonstrated instructional skills at the middle school level.
- Ability to incorporate brain‑based and social‑emotional learning strategies into instruction.
- Enthusiastic, articulate, creative, people‑oriented, and caring.
- Expert in working with middle school‑aged students and their families.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
