USNH Employees should apply within Workday through the Jobs Hub app. The Browne Center for Innovative is a fee-for-service learning center affiliated with the Department of Recreation, Management, and Policy at The University of New Hampshire in the College of Health and Human Services. Facilitators in the Youth & Student Program are essential staff who work directly with clients of all ages from local communities and UNH delivering customized programing focused on among many things, building healthy community, empathy, and connection.
Staff use experiential learning theories and modalities that may include virtual or in-person programs as well as but not limited to built or portable challenge courses.
- Facilitators are responsible for reading and familiarizing themselves with all information provided them about the clients with whom they will be working on each programs as well as planning their portion of the program based on this information.
- Overall program goals
- Information about individuals and group dynamics
- Development of inclusive programming plans as needed
- Program Logistics and setup of ropes course or classroom areas
- Planning program flows to meet client-specific goals
- Post-Program staff and facilities de-prep, debrief and feedback
- Facilitators are responsible for delivering each program based on the above information.
- Managing large and small group activities of 6-100+ people
- Facilitating icebreakers, name games, and portable challenges
- Facilitating discussions around defining and building group & community cultural norms
- Facilitating low and high ropes course activities intentionally chosen to support each group’s level of function and overarching program goals.
- Managing intentional transfer of learning through framing and debriefing of activities to reach client/group goals.
- Successful candidates will have a strong background in teaching and/or facilitation, with a minimum of fifty full days delivering educational programs on a ropes course or commensurate/adjacent experience.
- Applicants must have current First Aid and CPR certification or be willing to acquire same and be able to attend and pass our internal technical competency check-off or provide proof of commensurate training and experience.
- Technical competency on challenge courses (low elements & dynamic high elements)
- Facilitating cooperative games and problem-solving initiatives
- Ability to design an activity sequence based on client’s desired outcomes/needs.
$50.00 per hour
