- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Must meet the minimum qualifications required by the Department of the Army and have earned a Junior ROTC Instructor Certificate from Cadet Command.
- Must possess effective instructional delivery techniques, excellent communication skills, motivate students to excel
- Experience working with youth preferred
- Proven ability to maintain effective working relationships with others
- Ability to communicate clearly & effectively, both orally & in writing
- Must have excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Demonstrated proficiency with educational technology

EvaluationPerformance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Teacher Evaluation Model and the Fall Mountain Personnel Policy and Procedures manual.
Job GoalPosition is responsible for instructing secondary school students in the JROTC curriculum (grades 9-12 only).
Performance Responsibilities / Essential Duties- Complies with all regulatory guidelines outlined in Cadet Command Regulation 145-2, JROTC Program Organization, Administration, Operation, Training and Support and Cadet Command Regulation 145-8-3, Organizational Inspection Program.
- Provides comprehensive educational instruction to cadets in the JROTC program.
- Conducts training at JROTC and summer camps.
- Develops short and long range plans for achieving curriculum goals, gathers appropriate materials, establishes clear objectives for lessons, and formulates appropriate lesson plans.
- Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and the personal growth of students.
- Collaborates with general education staff, special education staff, guidance counselors and school administrators as needed to maximize program effectiveness.
- Evaluates student progress and counsels cadets on their performance within the JROTC program.
- Motivates and encourages students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a foundation for becoming a responsible citizen.
- Monitors student movement to ensure a safe and orderly environment.
- Organizes, supervises and participates in extracurricular activities for JROTC cadets to include color guard, drill teams, raider team, marksmanship team and other special activities.
- Maintains JROTC student records as required by the Department of Army regulations and local policies.
- Complies with Army and school district safety guidelines when instructing, supervising, monitoring, and accompanying cadets.
- Maintains supply accountability in strict compliance with Army security regulations, including maintaining summer uniform and equipment requirements.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media based on individual student need.
- Coordinates with all JROTC department personnel to plan, organize and conduct JROTC extracurricular and co-curricular activities to meet requirements established in the Unit Report and Cadet Command Regulation 145-2.
- Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
- Attends staff development programs, department meetings and other professional activities.
- Sets an example and models positive attitudes, knowledge, and skills for cadets.
- Maintains a working knowledge of new instructional methods, technology and equipment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and stand for extended periods of time. The employee will occasionally be required to walk, bend and reach. The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height. Must be able to see, to read a computer screen and printed material, with or without vision aids.
