Position: Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Political Science and International Affairs
Location: Durham

Adjunct Faculty – POLT 505 American Congress

Responsibilities
  • Deliver in‑class instruction (60%) on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:10 to 3:30pm.
  • Offer 1–2 hours per week of office hours for students (20%).
  • Handle course administration (10%): syllabus preparation, coordinating books and reading materials, maintaining Canvas, grading, and responding to email queries from students, faculty, and staff.
Requirements
  • Master’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of professional experience.
  • ABD or Ph.D. in a related discipline.
  • Ability to teach American Congress and possess broader knowledge of American government and political institutions.
  • Comfortable interacting with students of varying backgrounds and providing guidance and support regarding coursework.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ABD or Ph.D. in Political Science or a related discipline.
  • Teaching certification and/or experience with advanced high‑school or college students.
