Milton School District is seeking a caring, dependable, and student-centered Special Education Paraprofessional to support students with disabilities across a range of academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs. This role is instrumental in fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment where all students feel empowered to succeed. Paraprofessionals in Milton play a vital role in ensuring that students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) receive the support they need to access the curriculum, develop independence, and grow as learners. We are seeking individuals who are collaborative, compassionate, and eager to make a positive impact in the lives of students on a daily basis.
- Support students individually and in small groups under the supervision of certified staff.
- Reinforce learning objectives across academic areas, including reading, math, writing, and life skills.
- Implement accommodations and modifications as directed by IEPs and student support teams.
- Assist with behavioral and social-emotional support in both structured and unstructured settings.
- Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, during lunch and recess, at arrival and dismissal, and on field trips.
- Support students with disabilities in completing activities of daily living, if needed.
- Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals.
- Collaborate with teachers, case managers, and related service providers to promote student success.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and positive classroom environment.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and records.
- Participate in team meetings and professional development as appropriate.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- New Hampshire Certification as a Paraprofessional (Para I or Para II). The district supports obtaining certification after hire.
- Experience working with students with disabilities or in a school setting is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including patience, empathy, and consistency.
- Ability to support students with physical or behavioral challenges in a respectful and effective manner.
- Willingness to be trained in safety protocols and behavior management strategies (CPI certification preferred or willing to obtain).
- Reliable, team-oriented, and committed to supporting student growth and independence.
