POSITION TITLE:

Elementary Classroom Teacher

SUPERVISOR:
Building Principal

PAY RANGE: $52,000-$72,175 depending on education and experience

Qualifications
  • New Hampshire DOE Elementary teaching certification
  • Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related discipline from an accredited institution
  • Master's degree in related area preferred
  • One to three years of successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade levels preferred
Summary

Under the general supervision of the School Principal, facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district‑approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs; creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding progress, expectations, and goals.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, and ability to differentiate instruction based upon student learning styles or in a multigrade classroom
  • Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts
  • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and formulation of action plans
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students
  • Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents
  • Ability to engage in self‑evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and administer school curriculum consistent with district initiatives, goals, and objectives
  • Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized, small group instruction and student learning
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and translate them into learning experiences to best utilize instructional time
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and modify instruction to fit individual student needs, including students with special needs, and conduct individual and small group instruction as needed
  • Read and implement IEP and 504 plans
  • Encourage parental involvement in students’ education and ensure effective communication with students and parents
  • Ensure student conduct conforms to school standards and district policies, and establish standards of pupil behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere
  • Coordinate with other elementary school staff members, especially within grade level and specific subjects, to evaluate and assess curriculum and participate in faculty meetings and committees
  • Select and requisition appropriate books, instructional aids, and supplies, and maintain inventory records
  • Supervise students in activities outside the classroom, including school transportation activities
  • Instruct students in responsible citizenship and other subject matters specified in applicable laws, as well as administrative regulations and procedures of the district
  • Continue to acquire professional knowledge and learn about current developments in education by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings, or conducting research
  • Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record‑keeping and grading
  • Administer standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs
  • Perform other position‑related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the superintendent
