Rivendell Interstate School District was the first K-12 interstate school district in the United States. It is now a preK-12 school district and serves three Vermont towns (Fairlee, West Fairlee and Vershire) and one New Hampshire town (Orford).Rivendell is located in the four-season Upper Valley near Dartmouth College and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. The District also includes beautiful Lake Morey and Lake Fairlee and has a 37-mile hiking trail that connects the four towns.

There are a number of higher education institutions close to our towns, including:
Dartmouth College, Plymouth State University, Community College of Vermont, Norwich University, Vermont College of Fine Arts, and Goddard College.

Teachers can opt into either the Vermont or New Hampshire teacher retirement program.
