Your OpportunityStantec is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our team of transportation professionals servicing state and municipal clients in Maine, New Hampshire, and throughout New England. This position would be based out of the Portland, ME or Auburn, NH office, but you would be part of a larger New England transportation design group with offices in South Burlington, VT;
Burlington & Boston, MA; and several other satellite offices. The New England structures group consists of about 30 bridge staff with varied experience and project backgrounds.
The Stantec Transportation group provides services to both private and public sector clients. While you will be focusing on work in Maine and the Northeast, the successful candidate will also have opportunities to collaborate with our other teams across the United States and in Canada and support their project needs as opportunities arise. Key Responsibilities
Lead bridge design projects of varying size and complexity through all phases of design
Develop design plans, technical specifications, and construction cost estimates
Prepare, check, and deliver engineering calculations, reports, and technical studies
Guide and mentor junior and intermediate staff
Build a strong culture of quality design and teamwork
Assist with or lead bridge inspection and load rating assignments
Carry out constructability reviews during the design of conventionally procured projects
Develop and present information to clients and the public
Coordinate with clients, agencies, subconsultants, and others to obtain and determine project requirements and approvals
Additional duties may include assisting the transportation leadership with project pursuits and proposal preparation
Thorough understanding of Maine
DOT, Maine Turnpike and/or NHDOT design standards and practicesStrong knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications
Experience in a bridge engineering technical lead role
Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule
Effective verbal, visual, and written communication skills
Proficient in Micro Station, MathCAD, & Microsoft Office Suite
Experience using bridge design and analysis software (Merlin-Dash, CSiBridge, STAAD, AASHTOware, LPile, Group, LEAP-steel/concrete, etc.)
Experience with bridge inspection and load rating
Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate ideas, design issues, and solutions to others
Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering
Master degree in Structural Engineering (desired)
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
Minimum of twelve (12) years of experience.
Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work.

Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
