Labsphere is currently looking to hire an Optical Systems Applications Engineer to join our team in North Sutton, NH. In this role we are searching for a technical expert who thrives in a cross‑functional environment that promotes responsibility, independence, recognition, and the ability to implement technology quickly. This is a role with significant visibility to both internal and external constituents.
To succeed, you should take a practical, hands‑on, approach to creating solutions in photonics and radiometry in the UV/VIS/NIR range. Daily tasks will include supporting our sales team, understanding customer requirements, working with new and existing products that are in various phases of development/production, and making definitive design decisions regarding the application of technology. The ideal candidate will be forward‑thinking in utilizing and developing new technology while being open to new ideas and constructive discussions on project concepts.
Our environment is one that will require you to manage multiple projects/tasks while acting as a technical leader balancing the system requirements and solutions with the business constraints of the projects.
Your experience should include:
- Design of optical metrology systems, performing optical sensor calibrations, light measurements, and optical simulations (Trace Pro, Zemax).
- Hands‑on experience in the understanding of optics, spectroscopy, light metrology, uncertainty, and ability to communicate technical details and concepts to a wide range of audiences.
- A demonstrated ability to be proactive in proposing and implementing practical solutions to technical challenges.
- Proven record of leading technical teams.
- Ability to make decisions and assess risk based on the information at hand.
- Optical metrology lab experience
- Experience in technical presentations
Degree required:
B.S, M.S., or Ph.D., in Physics, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering.
