Position Summary

In this role, the engineer translates customer needs into technical solutions, often involving modifications to existing products or systems. Interact with customers to gain a clear understanding of the project requirements, work with 3D CAD software, create technical documentation, and collaborate with various teams to ensure successful implementation and manufacturing. Key responsibilities include managing customer relationships, performing design calculations, conducting verification testing, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, supporting the quotation process, and navigating projects through the engineering change process.

This role functions between the customer and nearly all internal departments. The role has regular internal Parker contacts with cross‑functional teams and frequent customer interface.

Responsibilities
  • Collecting and converting customer requirements into technical specifications and solutions.
  • Creating and modifying 3D CAD models, assemblies, and technical drawings.
  • Developing and maintaining technical documentation, including BOMs and test reports.
  • Working with sales, engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure successful customization and implementation.
  • Identifying and resolving technical issues related to customization.
  • Ensuring all customizations adhere to relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes and efficiency related to customization.
  • Providing technical input for quotes and cost estimates for customized products; working with the operations team and commercial teams to appropriately price solutions.
  • Designing and executing testing and validation of customized products to ensure they meet performance requirements; testing competitor products and assisting in designing other non‑standard testing.
  • Providing technical support for customized products in production or in the field, understanding basic troubleshooting and problem‑solving techniques.
  • Training other engineers or users on the customization process or specific tools.
  • This role is expected to travel infrequently, with possible customer visits occurring once or twice a year.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (BS) in an engineering or scientific technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of related experience (pneumatic valves, biomedical devices, pumps).
  • Strong skills in 3D CAD software, such as Inventor or Solid Works; understands best practices in CAD and can access and manipulate models, assemblies, and drawings.
  • Ability to create and interpret technical drawings, including GD&T.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles, calculations, and analysis.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with customers and team members.
  • Ability to identify and resolve technical issues related to customization; familiarity with established problem‑solving tools and methods.
  • Ability to manage projects from start to finish, including setting milestones, procurement, and taking appropriate action to maintain schedules.
