Position OverviewThis company's New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineering team is seeking a Plastics, Materials, or Process Engineer with experience in extrusion, molding, or polymer manufacturing processes
. This role will support the development and launch of new products within Cable and Integration manufacturing operations.
The successful candidate will play a key role in bringing new products from concept through production by leading process development, equipment implementation, product qualification testing, and manufacturing readiness activities. Products may include subsea cable systems, cable joints, repeater couplings, and related components.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys hands‑on manufacturing support, process development, and cross‑functional collaboration in a highly technical environment.
Key Responsibilities- Interpret product requirements and develop manufacturing processes for extrusion, overmolding, cable repair, and related polymer‑based production operations.
- Support new product development (NPD) and new product introduction (NPI) initiatives from concept through production launch.
- Collaborate with equipment and material suppliers to define requirements, obtain quotations, and procure manufacturing equipment and materials.
- Partner with Operations, Manufacturing, and Facilities teams to install, commission, and qualify new equipment.
- Develop and execute process development trials, validation activities, and product qualification testing.
- Coordinate with Production Planning and Manufacturing teams to schedule and execute development and production trials.
- Analyze process and test data to establish product and process capability.
- Utilize statistical methods to evaluate manufacturing performance and support process optimization.
- Create and maintain manufacturing procedures, process documentation, test reports, and qualification records.
- Support continuous improvement efforts focused on product quality, yield, and manufacturing efficiency.
- Bachelor's degree in Plastics Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering
, or a related engineering discipline. - Experience with extrusion, molding, overmolding, polymer processing, cable manufacturing, or related manufacturing processes
. - Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to interpret technical data and drive process improvements.
- Experience managing multiple projects, development activities, and testing programs simultaneously.
- Understanding of statistical methods and process capability analysis.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.
- Ability to work cross‑functionally with engineering, manufacturing, operations, suppliers, and quality teams.
- Experience in the wire and cable industry.
- Knowledge of cable manufacturing processes, including extrusion, molding, and fiber optic production.
- Familiarity with cable testing methods such as:
- Tensile testing
- Electrical and high‑voltage testing
- Optical testing
- Fiber optic splicing
- Experience using measurement and test equipment such as:
- Micrometers
- Calipers
- Ohm meters
- Thermocouples
- Load cells
- Optical power meters
- Environmental or temperature chambers
- Experience with automated data acquisition systems.
- Drafting or design software experience (AutoCAD or similar).
