Overview
Internal Auditor I – State of New Hampshire, Department of Transportation, Bureau of Turnpikes.
Location:
36 Hackett Hill Road, Hooksett, NH. Position #19683. Salary: $22.50/hour - $30.02/hour. This description reflects the essential functions of the role and may include other related duties as assigned.
- Develop an annual audit program to evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of the Bureau’s system of internal controls.
- Review independent audit reports, existing procedures, and segregation of duties to evaluate internal controls. Schedule audits in areas with control weaknesses and higher risk.
- Perform moderately involved and complex internal auditing to evaluate toll collection system effectiveness, including procedures, reports, DVAS, E-ZPass Back Office System, and field visits.
- Provide supervision and training to toll, administrative, and contracted operation employees as part of audits.
- Prepare written audit reports with objective, scope, findings, and recommendations for improvements to revenue collection and financial operations (accounts receivable/payable, purchasing, inventory, payroll).
- Develop electronic data processing methods to depict revenue, traffic, and budgetary trends.
- Prepare traffic and revenue reports to advise management with analysis of activity and fiscal management.
- Periodically review accounts payable/receivable, rental agreements, payroll/leave, security access, and property damage claims for compliance with state laws and agency policies.
- Review Service Organization Control (SOC1) reporting to identify controls and potential deficiencies at contracted E-ZPass Back Office.
- Education/
Experience:
Associate's degree and 2 years of experience or an equivalent combination of 4 years of education and experience after high school in accounting, auditing, business administration, or a related field. - License/Certification: Valid driver’s license or access to transportation.
- Other Requirements: Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet minimum standards as established by the hiring agency.

- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in auditing with making recommendations and conducting training.
