JOB SUMMARYThe Medical Assistant supports providers within the Rural Health Clinic by managing daily outpatient workflow. Responsibilities include rooming patients, performing accurate intake and vital signs, preparing patients for exams, assisting with in-office procedures, coordinating referrals, and supporting care throughout the patient visit.
The ideal candidate is task-oriented, detail-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced clinic environment. Experience with point-of-care testing, electronic medical records (EMR), and general outpatient office operations is preferred.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Greet patients and visitors professionally and maintain positive interactions with patients and staff.
- Perform patient intake including vital signs, medical histories, and documentation in the EMR.
- Administer injections and immunizations as directed by the provider.
- Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during in-office procedures.
- Perform EKGs and waived point-of-care testing (e.g., urinalysis, hemoccult) and maintain lab competency requirements.
- Process referrals and diagnostic orders in a timely and efficient manner.
- Coordinate scheduling related to referrals, testing, and follow-up care.
- Provide general support to providers and nursing staff.
- Monitor and restock clinic supplies; communicate operational concerns to supervisor as needed.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Successful completion of an accredited CMA program.
- Prior customer service, administrative support, and/or office experience. MA clinical experience preferred.
- Education:
- Technical/other training or better.
