Speech and Language Pathologist - Elementary SchoolMont Vernon Village School is seeking a full-time Speech and Language Pathologist to join their learning community. This position is responsible for helping to design and implement rich, dynamic student-centered instruction for students. Strong collaboration and communication skills as well as a commitment to their own professional growth are required in this position.
Under the general supervision of the School Principal, a successful candidate will facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through addressing the specific educational needs of individual students. They will also create a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.
Performance Responsibilities- Assessment of Speech and Language needs through the special education process to inform eligibility decisions and educational programming
- Communication of evaluation results in IEP team meetings
- Prescribing of IEP services and goals in collaboration with IEP teams
- Providing direct services for speech and language needs as outlined in a student's IEP, and monitoring the student's progress as a result of these services
- Consultation and collaboration with school staff and families on communication supports and accommodation
- Collaboration with school staff within a Multi-Tier System of Supports (MTSS) framework to provide developmentally appropriate speech and language instruction, supports, and accommodations
- Providing intervention supports and services in collaboration with students' teams and within a MTSS
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including consultants for assistive and alternative communication, assistive technology, occupational therapy, and behavior specialist, and special educator
- Licensed as Speech Language Pathologist
- Successful experience and/or training in the field or level within the last five years.
- Demonstrated commitment to "Engage, Support and Challenge All Learners."
- Enthusiastic, articulate, creative, people-oriented, and caring.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Well grounded in communication skills, an advocate for high-quality special education programs, experience with language disorders, students on the Autism spectrum, AAC.
- Excellent communication skills, well-developed collaborative skills with other educators.
- 3-5 Years of successful prior experience as a Speech Language Pathologist.
