Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive speech-language pathology evaluations for residents with communication and swallowing disorders; develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Deliver therapy to improve speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing function; monitor progress and adjust goals as needed.
  • Document assessments, goals, progress notes, and discharge planning in accordance with facility policies and documentation standards.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team (nursing, rehabilitative therapies, physicians, social work) to optimize client outcomes; participate in rounds and care planning.
  • Educate residents and families on communication strategies and safe swallowing techniques; provide caregiver and staff training as appropriate.
  • Maintain infection control and regulatory compliance within therapy services and ensure patient safety during activities.
