Caregiver / Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Regular

We are hiring for a positive and personable individual to provide support for individuals and/or groups of persons with disabilities in the community. Responsibilities include assisting clients in communicating needs, implementing services and supports to achieve goals, providing education on rights, promoting healthy living, fostering decision-making, accompanying clients to community activities, teaching independent living skills, providing transportation, maintaining documentation, assisting with personal care, administering medication where allowed, and protecting confidentiality.

• Provide education on human, legal, and civil rights.
• Promote healthy living and prevent illness and accidents.
• Increase awareness of self‑advocacy and support individual choice and decision‑making.
• Accompany people to work, movies, concerts, shopping, and other community outings.
• Teach independent living skills.
• Provide transportation to appointments.
• Foster positive relationships within the community.
• Promote decision‑making about living, work, and social relationships.
• Assist with personal care and bathing.
• Help around the home (laundry, cleaning, and decorating).
• Document the care provided.
• Understand diverse challenges of individuals living with disabilities and use effective advocacy strategies.
• Connect clients with resources for career, education, volunteerism, etc.
• Promote effective communication.
• Assist in medication administration where state law allows.
• Protect confidentiality.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Age 18 or older.
• Complete pre‑employment screening (criminal background, drug testing, education verification).

• Lifts 30–40 lbs regularly.
• Pulls 25 lbs minimum, squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, and stoop.
• Uses hands for various tasks; stands and walks frequently.
• Must demonstrate CPR proficiency.
• Vision and hearing requirements met.
• Work may involve hands‑on care and moderate physical activity.
