The Outdoor Programs Office (OPO) of Dartmouth College offers transformational outdoor opportunities to students and the local community. The Moosilauke Ravine Lodge (MRL) serves as a hub for education, recreation, and hospitality. As Assistant Manager, you will assist the Manager in leading lodge operations and share responsibilities with the crew, which includes menu planning, cooking, reservations, payment handling, event planning, dining room setup, cleaning, gardening, wood splitting, and various projects.
Responsibilities- Assist with lodge crew management and decision‑making while balancing team needs, OPO policies, and college regulations.
- Supervise crew, provide training, create weekly and daily schedules, and coordinate additional staffing.
- Oversee indoor and outdoor maintenance projects such as deep cleaning of kitchen, dining areas, and bunkhouses; lawn mowing; kindling chopping; and yearly opening or closing of the lodge.
- Manage guest relations: schedule reservations, handle payments, host activities, and address concerns.
- Serve as primary contact for guest safety, including basic first assistance and coordination with NH Fish and Game for search and rescue.
- Perform periodic safety checks, inventory management, and coordinate resupply.
- Maintain fiscal stewardship of MRL funds and distribute tips among crew, including assistant managers.
- High School diploma and some college coursework or equivalent experience.
- Obtain required certifications (Wilderness First Aid, CPR / AED, Serv Safe Manager); OPO will assist with scheduling and payment.
- Endure long workdays—up to 12 hours—often standing.
- Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills.
- Strong organizational ability to plan and manage programs and projects.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Commitment to diversity and inclusion, serving diverse populations.
- Approved driver status under Dartmouth College Driver Safety and Motor Vehicle Policy.
- Ability to live at the lodge during scheduled work week in shared dorm‑style bunkhouse.
- Prior experience in hospitality or food service; experience at MRL is strongly preferred but not required.
- Maintenance or repair experience.
Schedule is variable and includes evenings, weekends, and early mornings. Position is seasonal with three separate crew periods:
- Spring:
April 15 – June 22, 2026 - Summer:
June 10 – August 31, 2026 - Fall:
September 12 – November 22, 2026
