Principal Linux Systems Administrator; ONSITE

Position:
System Administrator – Red Hat Linux (Onsite)

Responsibilities include:

• Provide system administration for heterogeneous RedHat8 &9 Enterprise Linux environments.
• Utilize virtualization and containerization technologies such as VMware vCenter, vSphere, Horizon, ESXi, KVM, Podman, Docker, and Kubernetes/Open Shift.
• Collaborate with engineers, software developers, systems administrators, storage, networking, and high-performance computing teams to resolve complex infrastructure and integration challenges.
• Partner with cybersecurity teams to ensure continuous compliance with regulatory and security frameworks such as DFARS, RMF, and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
• Provide critical on‑site support for mission systems in a closed DoD area, responding to both planned and emergent tasks, with occasional work outside standard hours and up to 10% travel.
• Obtain and maintain DoD
  8140/8570 certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ or equivalent) within six months of hire.
• Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to support business needs, including adjusting to shift changes.

Must Have

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent academic experience.
• U.S. citizenship required; active and transferable secret‑level U.S. government‑issued security clearance required at start.
• Extensive experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) installation, administration, patching, and troubleshooting in enterprise environments.
• Experience with secure system configuration, hardening, and application settings, and tailoring Linux environments to security requirements.
• Practical knowledge of virtualization and containerization platforms (VMware, KVM, Docker, Kubernetes/Open Shift).
• Strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, Perl, or C for provisioning, patching, and lifecycle management.
• Experience with automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible and Red Hat Satellite.

Preferred

• Leadership, teamwork, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• Deep experience with RHEL ecosystem, including authentication and identity services (SSSD, LDAP, Kerberos, NIS) and file sharing/integration services (Samba, NFS).
• Proficiency with enterprise storage systems (e.g., Net App) and virtual desktop infrastructure technologies (Horizon, Profile Unity, NVIDIA GPU virtualization).
• Knowledge of monitoring, vulnerability scanning, and compliance assessment tools (ACAS, Splunk, Nessus, SCAP, STIG, Nagios, Solar Winds).
• Working knowledge of security frameworks (CMMC, NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, DFARS, DoD RMF).

• Salary range: $86,800–$165,200 USD.
