Materials Research Furnaces is a manufacturer of specialized high-temperature heating systems designed for scientific and industrial research applications in materials science, engineering, metallurgy, ceramics, nanotechnology, and more. They allow precise control of temperature, atmosphere (vacuum, inert gas, reducing/oxidizing environments), and sometimes pressure to study, synthesize, or process materials under controlled high-temperature conditions.

Job Summar

The IT Manager / ERP & Compliance Lead owns and supports all technology functions for MRF, a growing manufacturer of approximately 50 employees. Reporting to the Technical Director, this hands‑on, highly organized role is responsible for day‑to‑day IT operations, cybersecurity, infrastructure management, ERP implementation and administration, and leading the company’s CMMC 2.0 compliance initiative. This position is well suited to an IT professional who combines strong technical expertise with project leadership and business‑process improvement skills, and who thrives as the sole internal owner of the company’s IT systems, Acumatica ERP implementation, and cybersecurity/compliance roadmap.

The role requires someone who can move comfortably between hands‑on end‑user support, infrastructure administration, and the strategic project work that keeps the business secure, compliant, and running smoothly

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary IT resource for all company technology systems and users
  • Manage and maintain company networks, servers, cloud systems, endpoints, backups, and business applications
  • Provide end‑user technical support for hardware, software, printers, phones, and connectivity issues
  • Coordinate with external IT vendors, MSPs, software providers, and consultants as needed
  • Administer Microsoft 365, user accounts, permissions, cybersecurity tools, and device management systems
  • Develop and maintain IT policies, procedures, documentation, and disaster recovery plans
  • Monitor system performance, uptime, backups, and cybersecurity risks
  • Plan and manage IT budgets, hardware refresh cycles, and software licensing
ERP Implementation & Administration (Acumatic
  • Lead the ongoing optimization of the Acumatica ERP system
  • Coordinate cross‑functional ERP activities involving accounting, operations, inventory, purchasing, manufacturing, and management team
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the company and Acumatica implementation partner
  • Manage ERP project timelines, milestones, testing, training, and deployment activities
  • Analyze business processes and identify opportunities for automation and workflow improvement
  • Develop ERP reports, dashboards, permissions, and system configuration
  • Support post‑implementation administration, troubleshooting, user training, and continuous improvement initiative
  • Ensure ERP data integrity, security, and backup procedures are maintained
Cybersecurity & CMMC 2.0 Compliance
  • Lead the company’s cybersecurity and compliance initiatives, working closely with an external CMMC consultant to achieve and maintain compliance with CMMC 2.0 and related cybersecurity standards
  • Implement and oversee the remediation steps required for CMMC 2.0 compliance
  • Collaborate with purchasing, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure required cybersecurity controls and contractual CMMC requirements are properly communicated and implemented throughout the supply chain
  • Support customer and business‑development activities by completing cybersecurity, IT, and supplier‑risk reviews and compliance‑assessment questionnaires for prospective and existing customers
  • Manage security‑awareness training and incident‑response procedures
  • Maintain policies, documentation, and evidence required for assessments and certification
  • Oversee endpoint protection, vulnerability management, access control, MFA, backup validation, and logging/monitoring system
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible IT experience in a small to mid‑sized business and manufacturing environment
