The Assistant Manager, Terrain Parks supports the planning, execution, and oversight of daily terrain park operations. This position partners with the Snow Surfaces Manager and Mountain Operations leadership team to deliver safe, innovative, and industry-leading terrain park experience while fostering employee engagement, operational excellence, and exceptional guest service.

The Assistant Manager is responsible for hiring, development and direct supervision of terrain park employees, supporting feature design and construction, ensuring compliance with all risk management standards, coordinating with cross-functional departments, and contributing to the development of a high-performing team culture aligned with Vail Resorts' mission, values, and Epic Service standards. This role will also support hiring, scheduling and employee management for all of Snow Surfaces.

This role includes hands-on operational leadership and serves as the acting department leader when the Snow Surfaces Manager is unavailable.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead Safe & Exceptional Operations
  • Oversee daily Terrain Park operations and venue readiness.
  • Support terrain feature construction, maintenance, inspections, and risk management.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety standards and operating procedures.
  • Partner with Grooming, Snow making, Ski Patrol, Lift Operations, and Trail Maintenance teams.
  • Build & Develop High-Performing Teams across Snow Surfaces
  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training employees.
  • Develop schedules and staffing plans to support operational needs.
  • Coach employees, provide performance feedback, and foster accountability.
  • Promote employee engagement, recognition, and professional growth.
  • Drive Operational Excellence
  • Coordinate labor resources across Terrain Parks and Snow Surfaces operations.
  • Support budgeting, inventory management, and departmental reporting.
  • Monitor terrain quality, operational performance, and guest feedback.
  • Support special events, competitions, and resort initiatives.

Job Requirements:

  • Advanced skiing or snowboarding ability Leadership, supervisory, or crew lead experience Strong communication and organizational skills Valid Driver's License High School Diploma or equivalent
