Roll Press Operator

TSG - The Sheridan Group seeks a skilled Press Rollstand Operator to support our Manufacturing & Production team in a fast-paced environment. The Operator will set up, load, and align paper rolls, monitor web tension, and ensure smooth, safe press operation. Responsibilities include performing basic maintenance, troubleshooting roll feed issues, minimizing waste and downtime, and following strict quality and safety standards.

The ideal candidate has prior experience in a manufacturing or print environment, strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively on a high-performance production team.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and monitor press rollstands to support high-volume printing production
• Load, thread, and splice paper rolls according to job tickets and specifications
• Inspect paper rolls for defects and ensure correct stock, width, and tension settings
• Monitor web alignment, tension, and feed to minimize waste and maintain print quality
• Perform routine mechanical checks and basic maintenance on rollstand equipment
• Follow lockout/tagout and all safety procedures when clearing jams or performing adjustments
• Coordinate with press operators and production leads to meet schedule and quality standards
• Maintain accurate records of materials used, downtime, and production output
• Keep work area organized, clean, and compliant with company safety and housekeeping standards
• Communicate equipment issues promptly and assist maintenance staff with troubleshooting
