Terra Corps is a nonprofit organization working at the intersection of land conservation, sustainable farming, and local food systems to build local nonprofit capacity while growing the next generation of emerging leaders committed to making a difference at the community level. We value the power of local nonprofits to best understand and serve their communities, and our goal is to help them succeed by providing them with access to the Ameri Corps national service model to build organizational capacity.
Terra Corps is looking for Land Conservation Coordinators to serve in Ameri Corps positions with community-based nonprofits across Massachusetts. These 1,700-hour Ameri Corps positions receive a living allowance (up to $27,750), education award ($7,395), and additional Ameri Corps benefits. The 2026-27 program will run from 9/8/26-7/30/27. Service members are paired with a site supervisor who provides guidance and mentorship while they learn to manage community programs and projects.
Terra Corps partners with a network of 30+ nonprofits in Massachusetts and Rhode Island focused on community needs related to local land conservation and sustainable agriculture. These partners act as service sites for a new cohort of up to 50 Ameri Corps service members annually who select from five coordinator positions:
Community Engagement Coordinator, Youth Education Coordinator, Land Stewardship Coordinator, Land Conservation Coordinator, and Sustainable Agriculture Coordinator.
Land Conservation Coordinators (LCC) focus their service activities on cultivating opportunities to conserve land using a multitude of land acquisition strategies. LCCs convene and coordinate Regional Conservation Partnerships to align nonprofit, academic, municipal, state, and federal resources with local and regional land protection needs. By educating landowners, farmers, and community groups about voluntary land conservation options and organizing multi-stakeholder projects, LCCs help build local support for land conservation and increase community access to funding that empowers people to work collaboratively toward building strong communities.
