This is all about relationships. You’ll connect with community members, donors, physicians, employees, and prospective major gift donors
, helping them find meaningful ways to support healthcare in the communities they care about.

You’ll manage a portfolio of donors and prospects, develop strategies for major and planned gifts, support annual giving and donor stewardship, and partner with the broader Philanthropy team to grow engagement and philanthropic support.

Summary:

This Development Manager is responsible for cultivating a culture of philanthropy by building strong relationships with community members, physicians, employees, and prospective major gift donors. This role oversees all aspects of major gift fundraising related to the LHCs and donor engagement to support Maine Health’s mission and strategic goals.

The Director plays a critical role in coordinating with Philanthropy Services to develop and implement customized strategies to engage donors and prospects. This includes annual appeals, proposal development, estate and planned giving strategies, donor stewardship, pool management, and targeted communications. The Director is accountable for meeting major gift goals, stewarding donor relationships, and managing a portfolio of key donors and prospects.

Supervises philanthropy staff as assigned.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Education:Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree and/or CFRE preferred.
  • Experience:Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in fundraising, community relations, or the equivalent with a proven track record of securing major gifts in a complex organization.
  • Additional Skills/Requirements

    Required:

    Prior experience supervising fundraising or development professionals strongly preferred. Experience in healthcare or higher education philanthropy strongly preferred. Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills. Ability to lead strategically, work collaboratively, and inspire stakeholders. Strong organizational and project management abilities. Proficient in CRM/fundraising databases, Raiser’s Edge preferred, and Microsoft Office Suite.

    The pay range for this position is $83,324.80to $per year.

    Compensation for part-time positions isdeterminedon a prorated basis consistent with the scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent (FTE).
